Use a Wave Spring for Spring Reduction
A wave spring, or coiled wave spring, offers tons of advantages over other kinds of springs. The most important benefit of wave springs is that they can be half the size of traditional coiled springs. This means that the overall size and weight of an assembly can be significantly reduced. They are usually used to replace round wire compression springs in applications requiring a tight load deflection specification.
Lee Spring's REDUX™ wave springs are designed to provide maximum performance while taking up minimal space. In fact, our wave springs can reduce the size and weight of an assembly by up to 50 per cent!
So, how can they weigh so little? They are manufactured from a single filament of light-weight Type 17-7 stainless steel flat wire formed in continuous, precise coils with uniform diameters and waves. These stainless steel springs are available in diameters from as small as .25 inches (6.35 mm) up to 1.75 inches (44.45mm), and can meet load requirements from two pounds to ninety pounds.
If you are looking for a strong spring that can fit in tight spaces, choose from one of Lee Spring's REDUX™ Wave Springs. Lee Spring, a well-known spring manufacturer, has wave springs available in a variety of sizes to suit different types of applications. Our REDUX™ line of flat wire wave springs now includes smaller designs to fit ¼" and 5/16" hole diameters; the REDUX wave spring lines has also expanded to include metric designs to fit hole diameters from 6mm to 45mm, meeting load requirements from 6 Newtons to 90 Newtons.
